What is AI-powered document splitting?
Koncile automatically splits multiple documents contained in a single PDF and creates as many separate files as needed. The system identifies pages, detects logical breaks (invoice, annex, contract, delivery note) and generates clean, exploitable files.
How does Koncile detect document boundaries in a PDF?
Koncile's AI analyzes the semantic content of each page to detect where one document ends and the next begins without any prior knowledge of page counts or formats. This is particularly useful when processing a batch of documents merged into a single PDF: invoices from different suppliers, each with a different number of pages, are automatically identified and separated into individual files. Document boundary detection also handles mixed batches, such as separating an invoice from its attachment or a contract from its appendix.
What document types can be automatically identified?
Koncile's AI document splitting can automatically identify a wide range of document types within a single PDF: supplier and customer invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes, contracts, appendices, pay stubs, bank statements, expense reports and administrative forms. Common combinations like an invoice bundled with its attachment or a contract packaged with its appendix, are handled natively. Koncile detects the boundary and separates each document accordingly.
What is Koncile’s splitting accuracy rate?
Koncile achieves very high accuracy on standard document batches, thanks to an AI approach that goes beyond simple page-break detection. The engine combines layout analysis, content reading and document-type recognition to split PDFs by content rather than by arbitrary boundaries. Accuracy depends on document quality, format consistency and the complexity of the batch. Confidence scores are returned alongside results so you can flag edge cases for review.
Can I combine splitting with data extraction in the same workflow?
Yes. Data extraction is Koncile's core feature, splitting is a complementary option that fits naturally into the same pipeline. A typical workflow looks like this: Koncile receives a batch PDF, automatically splits it by content into individual documents, identifies each document type and routes it to the correct extraction template. The result is structured data per document, ready to export as JSON, CSV, or XLSX, or to feed directly into your ERP or business tools via API. Both features are available within the same Koncile environment, with no need for additional tools.
Is AI document splitting available on all plans?
AI document splitting is available across Koncile's plans, though feature depth and volume thresholds may vary by tier. For details on which capabilities are included in your plan, including batch processing limits, webhook support and advanced boundary detection, please refer to the pricing page or contact the team directly.
How do I access split files via the API?
After splitting, the API returns structured results containing each identified document as a separate file, ready to integrate directly into your tools; including cloud storage solutions like Google Drive, your ERP or any downstream business workflow. You can use synchronous calls to retrieve files immediately or configure webhooks to receive them automatically once processing is complete.
